Helen - a student success story

(via cityyear YouTube channel)

As someone who served in a middle school, its awesome to see a corps member really make progress with a student! So inspiring!

This week I’m teaching an Abilities Enrichment where I’m showing students that people with disabilities can do anything that they can do… they just have to do it their own way. This is the video of ASL that I showed today. The kids totally loved it.

Thanks to Jaimie Jannicelli for accompanying me today and sharing her ASL knowledge! And thanks to Amanda Liles who wrote these incredible lesson plans and came up with this awesome enrichment!

They are going into some of our toughest schools and really trying to be those great role models and mentors for students. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the spirit and inspiration they provide throughout the country.

The educational future of children shouldn’t depend on the bounce of a ball. Our goal is to make all schools high-quality schools.
