vvhiskey asked: Hi :) i was searching things about city year on tumblr and i have a question- when they say they pay you a living stipend, what does that mean? if i move to completely new city, will they pay for my rent/etc?

Hey! I’m glad to hear you’re interested in City Year! So, it is called a living stipend because you are not paid hourly… its like being on a salary. The nice thing about it being a “stipend” is that it does not count as “income” so you are able to qualify for food stamps, etc. City Year does not pay for your moving costs or your rent, but you will definitely make enough money to live on (I did it for two years in San Jose, and it was no problem at all).

I hope that helped! Let me know if you have other questions!

These opinions are mine.
